4 Signs Your Employee Is Ready to Become A Manager

Are you spending more time managing your team than helping your clients?

If that’s not what you were looking for when you started your independent financial services firm, there’s one thing that might keep you out of that trap if you have an employee who is ready to step up to the plate and become a manager.

The question is: how can you tell when you have an employee who is ready to become a manager?

  • People already look up to them
  • They know the strengths and weaknesses of your team
  • They take responsibility
  • They are good under pressure

 

If you find two or more of these traits in one of your employees (certainly if you find all four!) you should take advantage of that employee, because they are worth their weight in gold!

Don’t make the mistake of treating them like an employee while they’re doing the work of a manager.

Instead, treat them like a manager.

Pay them like a manager.

Offer the support you would normally offer a manager. Offer them the support you would want if you were the manager.

By encouraging their natural ability to take charge and lead your team, you will find yourself cultivating the leader your team needs.

 

What If No One Is Ready?

If you look around and you don’t see someone already on your team who can lead for you, it might be time to look elsewhere.
